Alex Marquez Reveals He Predicted His First MotoGP Win at Jerez: “I told my assistant… everyone started getting nervous!”

Alex Marquez says he woke up on race day at Jerez already knowing he was going to take his first-ever MotoGP victory — and the confidence he radiated even made his crew nervous.

The Spanish star, who ended the 2025 season with three grand prix wins and second overall in the championship, recalled how everything “felt aligned” before the Jerez race in front of 100,000 home fans.

Jerez had always been his favourite event, even before winning there, and after eight runner-up finishes in the first nine races of the season, Alex said the signs were too strong to ignore.

“I was fast all weekend, feeling good, and it was the Estrella Galicia 0,0 GP — my sponsor,” he said.
“While I was getting changed, I told my assistant: ‘I’m going to win today.’ He got nervous, told the technician, and suddenly everyone was nervous!”

Alex worked his way from fourth on the grid to snatch the lead from Fabio Quartararo on lap 11, while brother Marc fell out of contention after an early mistake.

He believes his mindset — visualising the win and maintaining modesty while always pushing for more — set the tone from pre-season and carried him through the year.

Following the breakthrough at Jerez, Alex added victories in Catalunya and Sepang to complete a career-defining 2025 season.
