Alex Marquez heads into the 2025 British MotoGP at Silverstone with clear eyes and deep respect—for both the track and his brother. Despite winning the 2023 Sprint race in wet conditions, the Gresini Ducati rider refuses to call himself the favorite at the fast-flowing UK circuit.
“I really like Silverstone, it’s fast and suits my style,” Alex admits. “But I’m not better than Marc here.”
Last year, Marc Marquez finished fourth in both the Sprint and Grand Prix on the same GP23 bike Alex had. Even though Alex triumphed in the shortened wet race, he’s realistic about where he stands now. In 2025, Marc arrives as the factory Ducati star and the current MotoGP championship leader, holding a 22-point advantage over his younger brother.
“Even with the GP23, Marc was faster here,” Alex said. “So with the GP24 now, he’s even stronger. It might suit me slightly more, but let’s be honest—it’s Marc Marquez. He knows how to be fast on any track.”
The numbers back up Alex’s humility: Marc has dominated the 2025 Sprint races so far, winning all six. Meanwhile, Alex continues his steady rise, highlighted by a memorable win at Jerez earlier this season.
As the championship intensifies, so does the brotherly rivalry. But at Silverstone, Alex knows the challenge ahead. The elder Marquez isn’t just a title rival—he’s a legend who never backs down from a fight.
