Alex Marquez outpaced his brother Marc during the final practice session for the 2025 Argentine MotoGP at Termas de Rio Hondo. While Marc Marquez’s record-breaking lap of 1m 37.295s from Friday remained unbeaten, Alex showed superior race pace, edging Marc by 0.087s with both riders using old medium front and soft rear tires.
Johann Zarco continued his strong form, spending much of the session between the Marquez brothers and securing third place for LCR Honda.
Friday’s runner-up, Fabio di Giannantonio, finished fourth, followed by KTM’s Pedro Acosta in fifth and Gresini rookie Fermin Aldeguer in sixth.
Francesco Bagnaia, who struggled earlier in the session, improved to seventh on his final lap, also running old medium front and soft rear tires.
Qualifying 1 will now commence for riders outside the top ten on Friday, including Ai Ogura, Franco Morbidelli, Joan Mir, and Jack Miller.
Reigning world champion Jorge Martin remains sidelined due to wrist injuries from a pre-season training accident. He is once again replaced by Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori.
Termas de Rio Hondo returns to the MotoGP calendar after a year’s absence. In 2023, Alex Marquez claimed pole position in wet conditions, Brad Binder won the Sprint for KTM, and Marco Bezzecchi secured his and VR46’s first MotoGP victory.
