Amorim: Man Utd Won’t Give Me the Time Arteta Had at Arsenal

Ruben Amorim believes he won’t be afforded the same patience at Manchester United as Mikel Arteta received at Arsenal. The 40-year-old manager, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November, has struggled to turn things around at Old Trafford, with United sitting 14th in the Premier League and already out of both domestic cup competitions.

With the Europa League as their last realistic shot at silverware and European qualification, United face a tough challenge against second-placed Arsenal on Sunday. Amorim acknowledged Arteta’s success in reshaping Arsenal but insisted he won’t get the same luxury of time.

“I will not have the time that Arteta had. I feel that. It’s a different club,” Amorim admitted. “So, we just need to survive with the players on Sunday and during these games.”

United, already suffering from a long list of injuries, battled to a 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad in their Europa League last-16 first leg but were visibly fatigued late in the game. With key players like Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, and others still sidelined, Amorim is preparing for another tough test.

Adding to the pressure, a protest against United’s owners, the Glazers, is planned by the 1958 fan group ahead of Sunday’s match. Amorim acknowledged the challenges but remained focused on improving the team.

“It’s a really tough moment for everybody in our club,” he said. “People have the right to protest, but our job is to perform well and win. The players deserve it.”
