Aprilia sporting director Paolo Bonora confirmed that reigning MotoGP champion Jorge Martin is “fine” following his heavy crash at the Sepang test. Martin suffered multiple fractures after a violent highside at Turn 2 on Wednesday and will undergo surgery in Spain on Friday. Despite his injuries, he was eager to return to the track, but Aprilia had to stop him for safety reasons.

Aprilia CEO Massimo Rivola stated that data showed no issue with the bike, and Martin didn’t make any unusual mistakes before the crash. While his absence is a setback for Aprilia’s test program, test rider Lorenzo Savadori completed a successful shakedown, helping evaluate new parts before the official IRTA test.
Marco Bezzecchi also played a key role in gathering valuable data over the two days, focusing on testing rather than lap times. His consistency and feedback provided Aprilia with a solid understanding of their 2025 bike’s strengths and weaknesses.
Despite the setback, Aprilia remains optimistic about Martin’s recovery and looks forward to his return, emphasizing the importance of his talent and competitive spirit for the upcoming season.
