Aprilia Share Positive Update on Jorge Martin Following Qatar Crash

Aprilia have released a promising update regarding Jorge Martin’s recovery after his frightening crash during the Qatar MotoGP.

Martin had been hospitalized for a week after suffering 11 fractured ribs and a collapsed lung in the incident. On Sunday, Aprilia confirmed that Martin has been discharged from Hamad General Hospital, although he will remain in Qatar a little longer until his condition is more stable.

“Jorge has been discharged from Hamad General Hospital and will remain in Qatar for a few more days until his medical condition stabilizes,” Aprilia announced. “As soon as his condition allows, an assisted flight will be arranged to bring him back to Europe.”

Martin, who has received intensive lung treatment throughout the week, does not yet have a confirmed date for returning to the track. He is expected to be sidelined for a significant period.

Lorenzo Savadori is set to stand in for Martin again at the upcoming Spanish MotoGP.

This marks another setback in a tough season for Martin, who already missed the first three rounds of the 2025 campaign due to earlier injuries. He initially injured his foot during a highside crash in pre-season testing, while adapting to his new Aprilia bike after moving from Ducati.

Just before the opening round, Martin suffered a scaphoid injury in his hand due to another crash, forcing him to sit out until the Qatar Grand Prix.

Unfortunately, his return was cut short after a fall at Turn 12 during the race, where he was struck by Fabio di Giannantonio’s Ducati. Di Giannantonio later expressed his shock at the incident, admitting he completed the race without knowing Martin’s condition.

Martin later posted from his hospital bed: “This could have been much worse.”
