Bezzecchi Claims Emotional Pole for Aprilia at San Marino MotoGP

Marco Bezzecchi gave Aprilia a dream home result by taking pole position for the San Marino MotoGP at Misano, edging Alex Marquez by just 0.088s. The Italian benefitted from team-mate Jorge Martin’s tow in a tactical exchange after helping him on Friday.

Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo continued his qualifying heroics to secure third and complete the front row, while Ducati title leader Marc Marquez could only manage fourth. Franco Morbidelli and Luca Marini followed, with Francesco Bagnaia struggling down in eighth.

Defending Misano winner Enea Bastianini’s qualifying ended in disaster with a crash at Turn 15, leaving him 20th, while Joan Mir will miss Saturday’s Sprint due to neck pain from Friday’s accident. If cleared, he will start 12th on Sunday.

The Misano Sprint, over 13 laps, begins at 3pm local time. Yamaha’s new V4 MotoGP prototype also makes its race weekend debut with test rider Augusto Fernandez, with Quartararo, Rins and Miller set to continue evaluations in next week’s official test.

Marc Marquez, whose 15-race winning streak was ended by Alex Marquez in Barcelona, cannot secure the 2025 title this weekend, but will have a chance at Motegi if he scores at least three points at Misano.
