Bezzecchi Proud of Aprilia Win as Jorge Martin Exit Rumors Swirl

Marco Bezzecchi has described his stunning British Grand Prix win as a moment of pride—both personal and for the entire Aprilia team—especially as speculation grows over Jorge Martin’s desire to leave the factory outfit.

The 26-year-old Italian delivered a sensational ride at Silverstone, recovering from 19th on the opening lap of the sprint to finish fourth, then going on to claim his first grand prix victory since India 2023, and his maiden win as an Aprilia factory rider.

Bezzecchi’s breakthrough came at a turbulent time for Aprilia, following reports that reigning World Champion Jorge Martin is looking to exit his contract a year early.

Aprilia CEO Massimo Rivola addressed the rumors after the race, stating: “This is a message to Jorge: our bike can win.”

Speaking to crash.net, Bezzecchi agreed the result was meaningful:
“Of course I’m proud, I’m happy. But the whole factory should be proud. It’s been a tough period for them, especially with Jorge’s injury. He was almost the main rider as world champion, so it wasn’t an easy start for them.

“I just focused on working hard to give them what they deserve.”

Bezzecchi made headlines earlier this year by turning down a continued spot on the VR46 Racing Team and the dominant Ducati to take on a factory role at Aprilia for 2025. His transition to the RS-GP machine was rocky, with stability issues limiting his results—his previous best this season was a sixth-place finish at the Americas GP.

Reflecting on that bold move, he said:
“It was a difficult decision, but I felt it was the right time to seek new challenges. I really wanted to be a factory rider, and when Aprilia gave me that chance, I accepted it. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I didn’t change my goals—I just kept working and refused to give up, even when things looked bad.”

Bezzecchi also admitted that doubts crept in during the low points of the season.

“In tough moments, many people start doubting you. Even you start doubting yourself sometimes,” he said.

“But I’ve got an amazing team and people from the [VR46] Academy, including Valentino [Rossi], supporting me. And my close friends—I’m a normal 26-year-old guy—I talk with them about everything. Real friends matter a lot. So thanks to them.”

With this victory, Bezzecchi not only silenced doubters but also gave Aprilia a crucial boost amid internal uncertainty and speculation over Martin’s future.
