Fabio Quartararo has confirmed he expects to ride Yamaha’s new V4 MotoGP prototype for the first time at the official Misano test on September 15.
The V4, currently under development and last tested at Brno by Augusto Fernandez and Andrea Dovizioso, has yet to be tried by Yamaha’s race riders. Quartararo, who has exclusively raced the Inline M1 in MotoGP, said:
“I think around September, I think in the Misano test. Until you test the bike, you cannot really feel the potential.”
While test rider Fernandez may debut the V4 in a wildcard outing later this year, Quartararo is focused on improving Yamaha’s consistency in races.
Despite claiming pole at Assen, the Frenchman struggled during the race, finishing tenth after an off-track moment caused by Fermin Aldeguer’s crash.
Yamaha’s last win came with Quartararo at Sachsenring in 2022.
