Honda are reportedly planning a sensational rider line-up that could drastically shift the balance of power in MotoGP.
While the Japanese manufacturer has shown glimpses of resurgence in the early part of the 2025 season, reports suggest that their long-term strategy includes signing both Pedro Acosta and Toprak Razgatlioglu — a combination that would send shockwaves through the sport.
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Honda are quietly working behind the scenes on a “coup project” to bring in both riders. The potential pairing would rival the star power of current icons like Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia, reminiscent of legendary line-ups from the golden era of Honda and Yamaha dominance.
Negotiations for Acosta, who is currently tied to a multi-year deal with KTM, are said to be ongoing. KTM motorsport boss Pit Beirer recently reiterated the Spaniard’s contractual obligations, indicating that he is not easily poached.
Razgatlioglu, meanwhile, is reportedly being considered for a transition to Honda’s World Superbike team in 2026 before stepping into MotoGP in 2027 — a strategic move aligned with the series’ tyre switch to Pirelli, which Razgatlioglu has already mastered as the reigning WorldSBK champion.
However, his manager has hinted that if Toprak remains in WorldSBK next year, he may continue with BMW, who are eager to keep him with a lucrative new offer.
Despite Honda’s interest, other MotoGP teams are also eyeing the Turkish star, with Yamaha — his former team in WorldSBK — among the possible destinations, particularly through their satellite set-up.
Acosta, meanwhile, has caught the attention of the VR46 team. They are reportedly looking to lure him with the promise of a factory-spec Ducati, offering equal machinery to that of current title contenders Marquez and Bagnaia.
If Honda manage to secure both talents, it could mark a turning point in their efforts to reclaim MotoGP dominance.
