The 2026 MotoGP Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika faced a delay on Friday due to technical problems impacting the stewards’ room and timekeeping systems.
The interruption began during Moto2 FP2, which was red-flagged with just over 12 minutes remaining after connectivity issues disrupted official operations. Race Director Graham Webber confirmed the problem, stating, “We’re experiencing connectivity issues affecting the stewards’ room and timekeeping. We’re working on a fix to get back underway shortly.”
The issue was resolved by 8:12am BST, but MotoGP’s main Practice session, originally scheduled for 8am BST, was pushed back to 8:35am BST.
This isn’t the first time Mandalika has encountered problems—its 2022 debut was marred by asphalt issues that shortened the grand prix.
In Friday’s FP1, Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi led with a 1m30.132s, followed by Marc Marquez and championship leader Jorge Martin. Martin and Marquez are separated by just two points atop the standings ahead of a crucial weekend.
FP1 also saw three riders—Diogo Moreira, Ai Ogura, and Fermin Aldeguer—crash out. Aldeguer, notably, won last year’s Indonesian Grand Prix.
As the title fight intensifies, all eyes remain on Mandalika for a weekend of high drama.
