Jack Miller backed to keep Pramac Yamaha seat for 2026 despite errors

Jack Miller is being tipped to remain with Pramac Yamaha for the 2026 MotoGP season, even after acknowledging a string of “silly mistakes” this year.

With Toprak Razgatlioglu confirmed as one of the team’s riders for next season, the fight for the second seat continues between Miller and Miguel Oliveira. Both are under pressure to perform at this weekend’s Czech Grand Prix in Brno, the final event before a decision is expected over the summer break.

Miller made a timely statement with a fifth-place finish in the sprint race at Sachsenring last weekend. He currently sits 12th in the championship, while Oliveira is 23rd.

“You’re always racing to keep your seat,” Miller said post-race. “We’ve had good pace, some silly mistakes, but also progress on a new bike. The speed is still there.”

MotoGP pundit Michael Laverty has thrown his support behind Miller, saying he would keep the Australian if he were making the call.

“It’s tough when you look purely at results, but Jack has brought a lot to Yamaha’s development,” Laverty said. “Miguel has had bad luck, but Jack offers more for the bigger picture.”

Both riders were brought in for 2025 as part of Pramac’s transition from Ducati to Yamaha, valued for their wide-ranging manufacturer experience. But Razgatlioglu’s arrival from World Superbikes means one must go.

Oliveira, aware of the stakes, tested privately at Brno two weeks ago and believes it gives him an edge heading into the race weekend.

“We had two good days here. That should help us start strong,” he said.

Team boss Gino Borsoi said Oliveira’s test puts him in a strong position but added that Miller’s experience and pace remain valuable assets.

Miller, looking forward to Brno where he previously scored a podium in 2019, is confident ahead of the final race before the break.

“I felt good last weekend, scored points in both races, and now I’m back at a track I love,” he said. “It’s got new asphalt, so it’ll be interesting. I’m ready.”
