Jorge Lorenzo Takes on Sports Manager Role for Rising Spanish Talent Víctor Cubeles

MotoGP legend Jorge Lorenzo has taken on a new role as sports manager for young Spanish rider Víctor Cubeles, further expanding his involvement in rider development after recently partnering with Maverick Viñales as a performance coach.

The collaboration has been described as the launch of a new talent development model in motorcycle racing, drawing inspiration from elite sporting academies. The project aims to build riders through a structured system that focuses on long-term planning, comprehensive training and a strong identity from the earliest stages of a career. The goal is to develop not only fast riders, but complete athletes who are technically, mentally and strategically prepared for the highest level.

Lorenzo, a five-time world champion who retired from MotoGP at the end of 2019, said the initiative represents a way for him to give back to the sport after a lifetime in racing. He believes Cubeles is the ideal starting point for this vision.

The partnership also has strong personal roots, as Lorenzo’s father, Chicho Lorenzo, previously worked closely with the 15-year-old rider during key moments of his development.

Jorge Lorenzo’s role will be hands-on and continuous, with direct involvement in major decisions and a focus on instilling the mindset, discipline and standards that defined his championship-winning career.

Cubeles, nicknamed Chico Maravilla, is already a Spanish Moto5 and MIR Racing Cup champion and is widely regarded as one of the most promising young prospects in Spanish motorcycle racing. He views the project as an opportunity to learn how to build a sustainable career, not just focus on short-term results.
