Juventus secured a place in the Italian Cup quarterfinals with a 2-0 victory over Udinese on Tuesday, capitalising on an own goal and a penalty in an otherwise quiet match.
The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when 17-year-old Udinese defender Matteo Palma misjudged a Weston McKennie cross and deflected the ball into his own net while challenging Jonathan David.
Palma’s evening got worse in the 67th minute when he brought down McKennie in the box, allowing Manuel Locatelli to convert from the spot.
This match marked the start of the round of 16. Next up, Napoli and Inter Milan host their fixtures on Wednesday. On Thursday, defending champions Bologna face Parma, while Serie A leaders AC Milan travel to Lazio.
The final tie of the round, Roma vs Torino, is scheduled for January 13.
