Liverpool Back in Form as Real Madrid, Bayern, and Chelsea Shine in Champions League

Liverpool roared back to winning ways with a commanding 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday, while Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich also claimed convincing wins.

After four straight defeats, including a 1-0 loss to Galatasaray in their last European outing, Jurgen Klopp’s side bounced back in style. Rasmus Kristensen opened the scoring for Frankfurt before Hugo Ekitike equalised against his former club. Goals from Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Cody Gakpo, and Dominik Szoboszlai completed the turnaround as Liverpool moved up to 10th in the league phase standings.

“I don’t know if it’s a statement, but it’s a win and something to build on,” said captain Van Dijk.

Chelsea also recorded a 5-1 win over Ajax at Stamford Bridge in a chaotic clash that featured an early red card and three first-half penalties. Kenneth Taylor was sent off for Ajax, while Marc Guiu, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Estevao found the net for the Blues. Tyrique George added a fifth after the break. Remarkably, Guiu, Estevao, and George became the first trio of teenagers to score for one team in Champions League history.

Bayern Munich cruised to a 4-0 victory against Club Brugge, with Harry Kane netting his 20th goal of the season. Lennart Karl, Luis Diaz, and Nicolas Jackson were also on target for the German champions, who remain perfect with nine points.

Real Madrid also made it three wins from three, edging Juventus 1-0 thanks to Jude Bellingham’s first goal of the season. The England midfielder struck from close range after Vinicius Junior hit the post.

Tottenham were the only English side not to win, held to a goalless draw away at Monaco. Elsewhere, Sporting Lisbon came from behind to beat Marseille 2-1, Galatasaray defeated Bodo/Glimt 3-1 with a Victor Osimhen brace, and Athletic Bilbao overcame Qarabag 3-1.

The next round of Champions League fixtures in two weeks will feature high-profile clashes between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, as well as Liverpool and Real Madrid.
