Luca Marini Targets Honda Podium: “It’s Time to Deliver”

Luca Marini believes it’s “time to deliver” as the 2025 MotoGP World Championship enters its final four rounds, beginning this weekend at Phillip Island.

In his second season with Honda, the Italian has made major progress — collecting 108 points so far compared to just 14 last year, despite missing several races due to injury.

Marini now sits within 20 points of LCR rider Johann Zarco, who is currently the top Honda in tenth overall. While Zarco and factory teammate Joan Mir have both stood on the podium this year, Marini’s best results remain a fourth-place Sprint and fifth in a Grand Prix.

At Mandalika, Marini ran in podium contention for much of the race before finishing just 1.2 seconds behind Alex Marquez.

“Back to work with the same focus as the last couple of rounds,” said Marini. “We learned a lot in Lombok and arrive in Australia ready to apply that. Phillip Island is a unique circuit — when the weather is good, it’s a real pleasure to ride. Our objective doesn’t change: we know what we’re capable of, and it’s time to deliver.”

Marini’s best MotoGP finish at Phillip Island is sixth (2022, VR46 Ducati), while his last podium came in Qatar 2023.

Joan Mir, meanwhile, hopes to bounce back after crashing out in Indonesia despite a strong Sprint showing. “Phillip Island is always special — it’s a circuit where the rider can make a big difference,” said Mir. “We have a much stronger package now, and I want to fight like we did in Japan and Indonesia.”
