A man in Spain has been arrested for stealing a rare €20,000 Pinarello bicycle belonging to 2024 MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin during the Valencia Grand Prix weekend.
The suspect reportedly gained access to the MotoGP paddock by disguising himself in KTM team gear, allowing him to move around team areas without raising suspicion. CCTV footage later showed him leaving Martin’s motorhome area with the bike.
More CCTV from a nearby petrol station captured the suspect still wearing KTM clothing and carrying the stolen bicycle. Police traced him to his home in Madrid, where he was arrested.
The 44-year-old is said to have a long history of theft and had recently been released from prison. He is also being investigated for an unrelated car theft.
The stolen Pinarello — a limited, high-value model used by Martin for training — will now be returned to the MotoGP champion.
The incident raises concerns about MotoGP paddock security, as the suspect was able to walk in dressed as a team member.
