Manchester United’s struggles have reached a worrying point, with Michael Carrick’s side sitting 17th in the Premier League after nine games.
Their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea extended a winless run to nine matches in all competitions, marking the club’s worst streak since the 1988-89 season. United have managed just one league victory so far, leaving them uncomfortably close to the relegation zone.
Carrick, however, is refusing to focus on the threat of relegation. He insists the team must keep moving forward and winning games, believing a few positive results could quickly transform their position in the table.
History offers some perspective. United have not been relegated since 1974, while their current financial strength makes a drop into the Championship seem unlikely. But with performances and results continuing to disappoint, the pressure is mounting.
