MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez is tipped to finally break his nine-year win drought at the Red Bull Ring as the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix approaches.
The factory Ducati rider holds a commanding 120-point lead in the standings, with eight wins and 11 sprint victories from 12 rounds. Despite his dominance, the Red Bull Ring remains one of four circuits he has never conquered since its return to the calendar in 2016. Marquez has come close, finishing second in dramatic last-lap battles with Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo between 2017 and 2019.
Podcast host Jordan Moreland believes this could be the year, although he expects Pecco Bagnaia, winner of the last three Austrian races, to pose a threat. However, Crash.net journalist Lewis Duncan doubts Bagnaia can match Marquez’s current form, predicting the championship leader will extend his run of five consecutive Sunday wins.
With Ducati machinery now perfectly suited to the Red Bull Ring, Marquez is seen as the clear favourite to finally add the Austrian GP to his victory list.
