Marc Marquez Clears “Mental Hurdle” as Silverstone Showdown Looms

Marc Marquez has made a significant psychological breakthrough just in time for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, according to MotoGP insiders.

The factory Ducati rider bounced back impressively after a major crash at Jerez—his second costly fall of the 2025 season. Despite the setback, Marquez showed resilience by winning the sprint race and finishing second in the grand prix at Le Mans, ahead of key title rivals Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia.

Speaking on the Crash MotoGP podcast, journalist Lewis Duncan said the Le Mans result signaled an important mental shift for Marquez.
“Le Mans was a big moment for him,” Duncan explained. “After Jerez, to come back and score 20 points while his main rivals struggled—that’s huge. It shows he’s cleared a mental hurdle.”

Duncan believes Silverstone is the perfect circuit for Marquez to capitalize.
“This is a rider’s track. The best rider on the best bike can really make the difference here,” he said. “We’ll see Marc turn the screw this weekend.”

Meanwhile, doubts are growing around teammate Bagnaia, who sits 51 points adrift in the standings. Despite collecting more points than this time last season, his struggle with front-end feel has prevented him from matching Marquez’s pace.

“Pecco’s comments suggest he’s mentally out of the title fight,” Duncan noted. “Saying Marquez can ride a tractor and he can’t work around the bike’s issues is basically waving the white flag.”

Alex Marquez, riding year-old Ducati machinery for Gresini, is 22 points behind his brother but is not seen as a title favorite.
“He’s a scrappy competitor, but he’s racing to be a regular front-runner, not the champion,” said Duncan. “That only plays into Marc’s hands.”

Marquez now leads the standings heading into Silverstone and is looking increasingly like the man to beat in 2025.
