Marc Marquez extended his championship lead with a flawless performance at the 2025 Aragon MotoGP, dominating the weekend from start to finish at the circuit where he claimed his first Ducati win a year ago.
The Ducati Lenovo star topped every session he participated in, marking the first time since the 2015 Sachsenring that he achieved such a feat.
Ending a streak of five different winners in the last five rounds, Marc comfortably pulled away from his closest title rival and younger brother, Alex Marquez, to take victory.
While Marc controlled the race from the front, Alex had to fend off pressure from factory Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia and KTM riders Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder. Acosta was the only rider to opt for a hard front tyre, with the rest on mediums.
The early laps saw Acosta and Bagnaia locked in an exciting fight for third, though Bagnaia appeared to have better control over his front-end issues, countering each of Acosta’s attacks effectively.
As the race progressed, both were closing in on Alex Marquez before Binder crashed out at Turn 3. Moments later, Fabio Quartararo also fell, losing control at Turn 1 while running in tenth.
Alex held off Bagnaia to secure his first GP runner-up finish since round 3 at COTA, while Bagnaia returned to the podium for the first time since Jerez.
Acosta finished a solid fourth. Rookie Fermin Aldeguer and Franco Morbidelli fought intensely for fifth, even making contact twice on the back straight.
Joan Mir, who was taken out in Saturday’s Sprint by Jack Miller, avoided incidents to record his best grand prix finish since Indonesia 2023.
Maverick Vinales crashed while running behind Mir, allowing Marco Bezzecchi to climb from 20th to 8th. Johann Zarco also fell, ending a tough weekend for LCR.
Luca Marini and Ai Ogura were absent due to injuries and were not replaced.
Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez returned as a wild-card, while Lorenzo Savadori continued to substitute for the injured Jorge Martin at Aprilia.
Moto2 points leader Manuel Gonzalez is set to make his MotoGP debut with Trackhouse during the second in-season test on Monday at Aragon.
