Marc Marquez credits Ducati for taming instincts, targets attack at Sachsenring

Marc Marquez has praised Ducati for helping him control his natural racing instincts, a shift that has contributed to his dominant form and 68-point lead in the MotoGP championship. The factory Ducati rider has won three consecutive sprint and grand prix doubles, including at Mugello and Assen—circuits he previously considered weak for his style.

After a rocky start to the Dutch GP weekend with two heavy crashes in practice, Marquez managed to compose himself and take another dominant win. Reflecting on his season so far, he highlighted Qatar, Mugello, and Assen as key victories—particularly because he hadn’t expected to be as competitive at those tracks.

He acknowledged Ducati’s influence in helping him time his attacks better and avoid previous errors like those at Silverstone, COTA, and Jerez. With a revised bike balance and stronger first-lap performance, Marquez feels increasingly in control across full race distances.

Looking ahead to the German Grand Prix at Sachsenring—a track where he won from 2013 to 2021—Marquez said he plans to switch back to full-attack mode. Despite his current advantage in the standings, he’s aware of the need to manage the lead wisely as the season nears its midpoint.

Sachsenring, known for favouring Marquez’s style, could provide the ideal stage for another maximum-points weekend—but he remains cautious: if someone is faster, he says, he’ll be ready to adapt.
