Marc Marquez has made a stunning start to the 2025 MotoGP season, winning both races at the Thai Grand Prix and securing pole position on his debut with the factory Ducati team. The eight-time world champion now leads the championship for the first time since 2019, marking a major resurgence in his career.
Marquez revealed that the last time he felt this good on a bike was at the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez, where he mounted an incredible comeback before suffering a career-altering arm injury.
“It was the last time I felt super good,” Marquez said. “Not just in Thailand but also during pre-season. The Malaysia test was more important for me because it’s a tricky circuit, but I still felt super good.”
The Spanish rider emphasized that he is now focused on enjoying his racing rather than chasing titles, stating that he has already achieved plenty in his career.
“I feel calm, I feel relaxed… I’m not riding to achieve a goal. I’ve achieved many things already. If I can fight for the championship, great. If not, it won’t change me.”
Marquez’s dominant form in Thailand was foreshadowed by his strong performance in Malaysia, a track where he has historically struggled.
“If I feel good in Malaysia, it means I’m in good shape,” he explained. “So I knew Thailand was a great opportunity to fight for victory. From the beginning, I felt super good.”
Despite his dream start to the season, Marquez remains cautious, acknowledging that things can change quickly in MotoGP.
“We’re only at the first race, and everything can change from one day to the next. But I’m enjoying it, and I’ll try to enjoy it all season.”
With Ducati’s powerful GP25 machine under him, Marquez looks like a serious contender for his seventh premier-class title.
