Marc Marquez is closing in on his seventh MotoGP world title, but the Ducati Lenovo rider insists he will not ease off despite holding a commanding lead in the standings.
The Spaniard’s winning streak ended in Barcelona, where he finished second to his brother Alex Marquez. Still, Marc extended his advantage to 182 points over the Gresini rider, who remains his nearest challenger despite setbacks earlier in the season.
Although the title cannot be sealed at Misano, Marquez could arrive at the next round in Japan with a chance to wrap it up with several races still remaining.
“Mindset is to keep the same mentality,” Marquez told MotoGP.com ahead of the San Marino Grand Prix. “Even if there are seven races left, I want to maintain the same approach. Maybe we can close the championship earlier, but when 2025 ends, 2026 begins the next day.”
Reflecting on the Catalan GP, where he was defeated for the first time since Silverstone, Marquez said he was still satisfied with his performance. “It was a difficult circuit for me, but I was the rider who scored the most points that weekend. Alex was faster, but I was close, and that made me happy. It was also special for our family to share that moment.”
Heading into Misano, where he has already claimed five victories, Marquez is confident the track suits his riding style better than Barcelona. He recalled memorable past wins, including his 2021 triumph with Honda after his injury and last year’s emotional success with Gresini.
“We will try again this year to fight for it,” Marquez added.
