Marc Marquez may have extended his MotoGP championship lead to 83 points with a dominant Sachsenring victory — but according to insiders, we still haven’t seen the full extent of his capabilities.
The Ducati rider claimed his fourth consecutive sprint/grand prix double and seventh overall in 2025, yet pundits believe he was riding within himself. Crash MotoGP’s team suggested Marquez never had to fully unleash his potential in Sunday’s dry race, despite winning by over six seconds.
“He didn’t even put on new tyres during Friday practice,” noted Crash Podcast host Jordan Moreland. “That said everything — he was focused on Sunday from the start. And even in the sprint, he admitted he pushed too hard just because he felt good.”
Crash Editor Peter McLaren added: “Once he took the holeshot on Sunday, that was it. He was in control. He’s so dominant right now, it’s scary — and I don’t even think he showed us everything. He held back.”
Marquez has looked increasingly calculated since early-season mistakes cost him points. Since Aragon, he’s been flawless under pressure in all conditions, including rain-soaked races at Le Mans and Assen.
Senior journalist Lewis Duncan concluded: “He’s learning fast and not cracking under pressure. Four doubles in a row is something we haven’t seen in the modern era — it’s domination.”
Next stop is Brno, a return to a circuit MotoGP hasn’t visited in years, which could offer new challenges — but right now, it’s Marc Marquez’s world and everyone else is just trying to catch up.
