Marc Marquez (Ducati) led Maverick Vinales (KTM) and Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) during a chaotic final practice session for the 2025 Spanish MotoGP at Jerez.
Franco Morbidelli, who was third fastest on Friday, was the first to crash after a high-speed incident at Turn 4, prompting red flags to repair the airfence.
Following the restart, Alex Rins lost control of his M1 at the slower Turn 6 hairpin. Most riders opted for the soft rear tyre, anticipated to be the preferred choice for this afternoon’s Sprint race.
However, Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta were among the few testing the medium rear tyre, until Acosta crashed his KTM at the final corner.
Francesco Bagnaia, who had outpaced his Ducati teammate Marquez on Friday, then suffered a crash at Turn 7, potentially leaving him with only one bike for qualifying.
Rins later added to the crash tally with a second fall at the high-speed Turn 4. Most of the accidents occurred in left-hand corners, with cooler morning temperatures possibly contributing to the incidents.
Qualifying 1 is set to begin, featuring riders outside the top ten from Friday, including Brad Binder, Jack Miller, and Maverick Vinales.
Meanwhile, Aleix Espargaro is making his Honda MotoGP debut this weekend as a wild-card entry, testing prototype parts on the RC213V after retiring from full-time racing at the end of last season.
Due to Jorge Martin’s injuries from Qatar, Aprilia’s test rider Lorenzo Savadori continues to substitute for the reigning world champion. Similarly, Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez remains the stand-in for the injured Miguel Oliveira at Pramac, marking his third consecutive event.
The first official in-season MotoGP test of 2025 will take place at Jerez on Monday.
