Marc Marquez Reveals First Debrief After Heavy Indonesian MotoGP Crash

A behind-the-scenes video from Ducati has revealed Marc Marquez’s first debrief following his heavy crash with Marco Bezzecchi during the Indonesian MotoGP at Mandalika.

The seven-time MotoGP world champion was clipped from behind by Bezzecchi at the fast Turn 7 on the opening lap, sending both riders out of the race. Marquez suffered a hard fall, later diagnosed with a fracture at the base of the coracoid process and a ligament injury in his right shoulder.

Ducati has since confirmed that Marquez will miss the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix. Despite the setback, he described the clash as a “racing incident” and urged calm on social media amid backlash directed at Bezzecchi.

In Ducati’s Inside documentary, Marquez recalled:
“When I touched the gravel, I was very fast. I had a good start, the grip was fine… He touched me a little from behind and I was flying. I know it wasn’t my fault. It wasn’t a place where we were slow.”

Crew chief Marco Rigamonti teased Marquez by saying, “See you in Valencia at the Gala,” hinting that he may sit out the rest of the season. Marquez laughed it off, saying he would “try before,” but admitted recovery depends on how quickly his ligament heals.

Bezzecchi avoided serious injury but is expected to face a penalty at the Australian GP when meeting the FIM stewards.
