Marc Marquez Secures First Austrian MotoGP Victory After Holding Off Aldeguer

Marc Marquez finally ended his winless run at the Red Bull Ring with a hard-fought Austrian MotoGP victory, fending off rookie sensation Fermin Aldeguer in the closing stages. The result gave Marquez his sixth consecutive weekend double of Sprint and GP wins, further strengthening his dominant title lead.

Starting behind pole-sitter Marco Bezzecchi, Marquez quickly dispatched Francesco Bagnaia and then fought through an intense mid-race duel with Bezzecchi, eventually seizing control with a decisive move at Turn 1. Bezzecchi initially resisted but was later overhauled by the charging Aldeguer, who cut through from behind with blistering pace.

Despite Aldeguer closing the gap, Marquez managed his tyres to perfection and held firm to take his first win at the Red Bull Ring, previously one of four tracks where he had never triumphed. Bezzecchi completed the podium in third, clear of Pedro Acosta in fourth.

Enea Bastianini finished fifth while Bagnaia, after an early push, faded to eighth following a penalty and a late pass from Brad Binder. Sprint runner-up Alex Marquez dropped back after serving a long-lap penalty, while reigning champion Jorge Martin crashed out midway but was later declared unhurt. Fabio di Giannantonio also retired after a major engine failure.

All riders ran medium tyres front and rear except Alex Rins, who opted for the new hard front. Maverick Vinales, still recovering from injury, withdrew after qualifying and will also miss the Hungarian GP, while rookie Somkiat Chantra remained sidelined post-surgery. Aleix Espargaro will step in for LCR next weekend at Balaton Park.
