Marc Marquez Secures Fourth Consecutive Pole in Dramatic Qatar Qualifying

Marc Marquez continued his flawless 2025 qualifying streak by claiming his fourth straight pole of the season at the Qatar MotoGP. But it wasn’t easy — younger brother Alex Marquez briefly held provisional pole after breaking the lap record, only for Marc to snatch it back by just 0.101s, using a tow behind Franco Morbidelli.

Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo delivered a surprise performance, even momentarily taking pole before settling for a front-row start. Meanwhile, COTA winner Francesco Bagnaia crashed and will start a disappointing 11th.

Rookie Ai Ogura and Yamaha’s Alex Rins advanced from Q1, while Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi and returning world champion Jorge Martin narrowly missed out. Martin, recovering from multiple pre-season injuries, is making his Aprilia GP debut but will start from deep in the field.

It was a tough session for Honda’s Joan Mir, qualifying only 21st, just ahead of rookie Somkiat Chantra. With Miguel Oliveira still out injured, Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez continues to fill in at Pramac.

The 11-lap Qatar Sprint begins at 8PM local time under the floodlights in cooler night conditions.
