Marco Bezzecchi says his victory at the British MotoGP felt “even more special” after enduring a tough start to the season and a long absence from the podium.
The Aprilia rider had not stood on a MotoGP podium since the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix, while the factory team hadn’t recorded a top-five finish since Ai Ogura’s fifth place in the 2025 season opener in Thailand.
“It was an amazing weekend for us,” Bezzecchi shared during the pre-race press conference at Aragon. “Coming from a tough time, it’s always great to get a strong result. I had been missing the podium for a long time, so this made everything more special. The race was fantastic, and the bike felt great. I’m excited to start riding here and try to fight for strong positions.”
Bezzecchi believes his Silverstone win wasn’t a one-off, pointing to his competitiveness in previous rounds at Jerez and Le Mans, despite some small mistakes.
“We’ve made good progress during winter tests and the first few rounds,” he added. “Now we’re aiming for a consistent level of competitiveness at every race.”
He acknowledged that Aragon is very different from Silverstone and presents its own challenges, but both he and the team are focused on continuing the upward trend.
Monday’s post-race test at MotorLand Aragon will be key for Aprilia, with Bezzecchi confirming there will be new parts to test, some visible and some behind the scenes.
“It will be a very important test for us,” he said. “There are some new elements planned. We’re still focused on the weekend first, but Monday will be crucial.”
