Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi is being highlighted as the rider most likely to challenge Marc Marquez at MotoGP’s upcoming Hungarian debut at Balaton Park. The Italian has been Aprilia’s standout performer in recent rounds, consistently running at the front despite the RS-GP’s mixed track record.
Since his British GP victory in May, Bezzecchi has emerged as Marquez’s closest rival. He pushed the Spaniard hard at Assen, fought for a podium at Sachsenring before crashing, and finished runner-up at Brno. In Austria, he stormed to pole position and led for 18 laps before dropping to third due to an issue, once again underlining his strong form.
With Balaton Park offering a level playing field as a brand-new MotoGP venue, experts believe Bezzecchi could excel. Commentators pointed to his dominant win in India on unfamiliar ground last year as evidence of his adaptability, while also noting that Austria’s tyre characteristics, similar to India’s, may have played into his strengths.
Crash MotoGP analysts noted that despite the RS-GP’s supposed limitations on stop-and-go circuits, Bezzecchi continues to extract podium pace, often proving Aprilia’s most consistent performer behind Marquez. Looking ahead, races in Barcelona, Misano, and the overseas flyaways could also present further opportunities for the Italian to add to his victory tally.
