Marc Marquez dominated a crash-marred 2025 German MotoGP at Sachsenring, claiming his seventh victory of the season and extending his title lead to 83 points. The race, which saw just 10 riders finish from an already reduced 18-rider field, was the most attritional since Australia 2011.
Marquez launched perfectly from pole and led every lap, eventually winning by 6.380s. The victory marked his ninth German GP win and moved him to second all-time in premier class wins with 69.
The chaos behind him allowed injured brother Alex Marquez to take second, while Francesco Bagnaia completed the podium after starting 10th on the grid.
Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi had looked poised to fight for second before both crashed out – Di Giannantonio on lap 18, and Bezzecchi three laps later.
Fabio Quartararo finished fourth, narrowly ahead of Fermin Aldeguer. Luca Marini marked his return from injury with sixth place on the factory Honda.
Brad Binder (KTM), Jack Miller (Pramac), Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse) and Alex Rins (Yamaha) rounded out the finishers.
Among a long list of crashers were Joan Mir (taken out by Ai Ogura), Lorenzo Savadori (under yellow flag investigation after two crashes), Johann Zarco, Pedro Acosta, and Miguel Oliveira.
The win also gave Marc Marquez his fourth consecutive Sprint/GP double as he continues to dominate the 2025 season.
