Marquez’s 2025 Dominance Puts Valentino Rossi’s MotoGP Records Under Threat

Marc Marquez’s relentless 2025 form has put several of Valentino Rossi’s long-standing MotoGP records within striking distance. The Ducati Lenovo rider leads the championship by 120 points, with eight grand prix wins and 11 Sprint wins from 12 events, placing him third on the all-time wins list and second in overall podium finishes.

If Marquez maintains his current 83.3% podium rate and 66.7% win rate through the rest of 2025, he could surpass the 100-win milestone, finishing the season with around 103 total victories. Continuing that performance into 2026 could see him rise to 118 career wins — overtaking Rossi’s tally — and closing in on Giacomo Agostini’s record of 122.

While Rossi’s podium record of 235 remains out of reach in the near term, Marquez’s resurgence — five years after a career-threatening injury — has reignited his chances of becoming MotoGP’s most victorious rider. Regardless of whether he maintains this dominance until 2026, his current run has already reinforced his status as one of the sport’s most determined and formidable competitors.
