MotoGP has officially confirmed that its 2026 season launch will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on February 7.
Scheduled two days after the opening pre-season test at the Sepang International Circuit, this will mark MotoGP’s second large-scale group launch event, following the inaugural edition held in Bangkok in 2025. The event will see MotoGP take over the Kuala Lumpur City Centre area, with KLCC and its surrounding streets transformed into a major hub for motorsport, entertainment and fan activities.
A dedicated fan zone will be set up inside the KLCC Shopping Mall, located at the base of the Petronas Twin Towers, running from February 2 to February 7. Fans can expect interactive MotoGP displays and themed experiences throughout the week.
The main launch event on Saturday, February 7 will begin with a pit box-style motorcycle display at the KLCC entrance, allowing fans to see the 2026 MotoGP bikes up close. The day will conclude with an evening showcase from 7:00pm to 10:30pm beneath the Petronas Twin Towers, featuring an urban bike run, rider presentations on the main stage, and live music performances.
MotoGP organisers highlighted Kuala Lumpur’s energy and global appeal as key reasons for selecting the city as the host venue, with the event aimed at strengthening the championship’s connection with fans across Southeast Asia. Details on music acts and local celebrity appearances will be announced at a later date.
The choice of the Petronas Twin Towers as the backdrop presents an interesting branding challenge, as all eleven MotoGP teams are partnered with rival fuel and oil suppliers. These include Castrol-backed HRC and LCR teams, as well as VR46, which is sponsored by Pertamina.
Following the Kuala Lumpur launch, MotoGP will head to Buriram, Thailand, for the final pre-season test on February 21–22.
