MotoGP posts record 2025 growth despite attendance drops at Silverstone and Austria

MotoGP has announced record-breaking growth across the 2025 season, even though two European rounds saw notable declines in attendance.

Figures released by Dorna show that the championship’s expanded 22-round calendar attracted a total of 3.6 million spectators, the highest overall attendance in MotoGP history. The season also set nine individual event records, led by a historic weekend crowd of 311,797 at the French Grand Prix in May.

Jerez recorded the largest year-on-year rise, welcoming 43,131 more fans than in 2024. When comparing events held in both seasons, average weekend attendance increased by 7,244 spectators per round.

However, not all venues followed the upward trend. The British Grand Prix at Silverstone drew 18,539 fewer fans than the previous year, while the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring saw a drop of 32,627 spectators.

Away from the circuits, MotoGP also experienced strong growth in media reach. Global television audiences increased by an average of nine per cent per race compared to 2024, while Sprint race viewership jumped by 26 per cent. More than one billion minutes of content were watched on MotoGP’s official YouTube channel, and over half of the championship’s global fanbase is now under the age of 35.

The 2026 MotoGP season is set to begin in Buriram, Thailand, from February 27 to March 1.
