Pecco Bagnaia Clarifies GP24 Comments, Focuses on Unlocking GP25 Potential Ahead of Americas GP

Pecco Bagnaia has clarified his earlier comments about potentially switching back to the 2024 Ducati MotoGP bike, explaining that he misspoke and had no intention of changing machines. After a difficult race in Argentina and a tough start to the 2025 season, Bagnaia had initially suggested he might consider reverting to the GP24. However, ahead of the Americas GP in Austin, he explained that the issue was a result of a language barrier. What he meant, he said, was that he wanted to regain the same feeling he had with last year’s bike—not physically switch back to it. He emphasized that returning to the GP24 isn’t even possible, and instead, his focus is on adapting to the GP25.

Despite the struggles, Bagnaia acknowledged that the current version of the GP25 has more potential, something his teammate Marc Marquez is already proving by dominating the opening rounds of the season. While Marquez has claimed all race wins so far, Bagnaia has still managed consistent top-four finishes, including two sprint podiums. He identified corner entry as a key weakness in his current performance, an area where he typically excels and one he is now working on improving.

Looking ahead to the Americas GP, Bagnaia remains optimistic. Though COTA hasn’t historically been his strongest circuit, he believes he can perform better than in Argentina, a track he has always found challenging. He mentioned the detailed preparation he has done with his team and trainer to improve his approach. Bagnaia remains confident that with calmness and continued effort, he can unlock more from the GP25 and get back into contention in the championship battle.
