Quartararo Tops Final Dutch MotoGP Practice Ahead of Qualifying

Fabio Quartararo continued Yamaha’s resurgence by setting the fastest time in final practice for the 2025 Dutch MotoGP at Assen, ahead of Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia and KTM rookie Pedro Acosta.

After leading Friday’s chaotic session, Quartararo once again showed strong pace in improved morning conditions. Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi, who topped FP1, settled for fourth, while MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez—still sore after two fast crashes on Friday—rounded out the top five.

With nine crashes and two red flags during Friday’s cool sessions, riders approached the final practice more cautiously. All riders, except Maverick Viñales initially, opted for soft compound tyres to extract maximum performance before qualifying. Viñales eventually followed suit.

Remarkably, the top 19 riders were separated by less than a second, highlighting the competitiveness heading into Qualifying 1 for those outside the top ten.

Honda’s Luca Marini remains sidelined after sustaining injuries during a recent Superbike test in Suzuka. Veteran rider Aleix Espargaro, stepping in as a wild-card for HRC, brings valuable experience and previously finished a heroic fourth at Assen in 2022 with Aprilia.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo Savadori continues to substitute for injured reigning champion Jorge Martin in the Aprilia factory team.

In a tribute to Japanese racing icon Noriyuki Haga, Yamaha will unveil a special R7 livery during Sunday’s race, celebrating the manufacturer’s 70th anniversary.
