Ronaldo Targets 1,000 Career Goals Before Calling Time

Cristiano Ronaldo says retirement will have to wait until he reaches the landmark of 1,000 career goals, admitting he remains highly motivated to keep playing.

After scoring twice in Al Nassr’s Saudi Pro League victory on Saturday, the 40-year-old now has 956 goals for club and country. Speaking after being named Best Middle East Player at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, Ronaldo said his passion for football remains strong regardless of where he plays.

He stressed that his main objectives are continuing to win trophies and reaching the 1,000-goal mark, adding that he is confident of achieving it as long as injuries do not intervene.

Ronaldo has become the biggest name in the Saudi Pro League since joining Al Nassr after the 2022 World Cup. He initially signed a lucrative two-and-a-half-year deal before agreeing to a further extension that keeps him at the club until at least the 2026–27 season.

During his time with Al Nassr, Ronaldo has scored consistently, registering 86 league goals and 112 goals in all competitions for the Riyadh-based club.
