Liverpool manager Arne Slot believes record signing Florian Wirtz can help fill the creative void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid.
The German international impressed on his Anfield debut in Monday’s 3-2 pre-season win over Athletic Bilbao, showcasing the vision and final-third flair that convinced Liverpool to spend big this summer.
“We’ve lost with Trent a lot of creativity from the back… Flo has this quality as well in a totally different position,” Slot said, also praising new arrivals Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong for adding pace to the squad.
With rivals strengthening, Slot says Liverpool’s transfer activity was essential to remain competitive as they prepare for the Community Shield clash with Crystal Palace on Aug 10, before starting their Premier League title defence against Bournemouth on Aug 15.
