Taiwan’s Olympic gold medalists in men’s doubles badminton, Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin, returned to their former school, Zhongshan Junior High, for a special ceremony celebrating a road named in their honor.

A section of the street outside the school has been officially renamed Lin Yang Way following a public petition initiated by local residents. During the unveiling, excitement filled the air as Lee and Wang pulled down the cloth covering the new sign—almost toppling it over in the process. This marks the first time in Taipei’s history that a road name change was driven by public demand.
Students eagerly lined the hallways to catch a glimpse of their gold-medal-winning alumni. Reminiscing about their training days, Wang shared a lighthearted memory of running laps after overeating, while Lee found it nostalgic to see younger students continuing the same rigorous drills.
Wang’s fiancée was also present to celebrate the milestone. As Wang prepares for the upcoming Asian Games, Lee, now retired, looks forward to mentoring young athletes, hoping to pass on the dedication and resilience that defined their partnership.
