Why the Marquez Brothers Don’t Call Their 2025 MotoGP Feat “Historic”

Alex Marquez has shared why he and his brother Marc Marquez choose not to describe their 2025 MotoGP season as “historic,” despite finishing first and second in the championship.

The Marquez brothers enjoyed an outstanding year, with Marc dominating the season on factory Ducati to secure his seventh world title, while Alex claimed multiple race wins and finished runner-up overall. Their result marked the first time two brothers occupied the top two positions in the MotoGP standings.

According to Alex, the word “historic” feels too focused on the past. Both brothers prefer to look forward rather than dwell on achievements that are already done. Alex also highlighted Marc’s relentless mindset, describing him as a rider who constantly adapts, pushes through difficult moments, and never stops improving, which makes racing against him especially demanding.

Alex believes their contrasting personalities help strengthen their bond, as he sees himself as more calm and balanced, while Marc is more aggressive and instinctive. This balance, he says, allows them to complement each other both on and off the track.

Looking ahead to 2026, Alex will ride factory Ducati machinery for the first time. While expectations are naturally high, he remains cautious, focusing on steady progress and execution rather than putting pressure on himself. Winning a MotoGP title remains his ultimate goal.
