Zach LaVine Thrilled for West Coast Homecoming with Kings

Zach LaVine, a Seattle native, is set to make his Sacramento Kings debut Wednesday night against the Orlando Magic after being traded from the Chicago Bulls. The two-time All-Star, who averages 20.7 points per game in his career, nearly joined the Kings in 2018 when he signed a four-year, $78 million offer sheet, later matched by Chicago. With family ties to California and a home in Newport Beach, LaVine expressed excitement about finally joining Sacramento.

The Kings acquired LaVine in a three-team trade with the Bulls and Spurs, sending De’Aaron Fox to San Antonio while Chicago received Kevin Huerter and Tre Jones. Sacramento also gained six future draft picks. LaVine, currently averaging 24 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game, ranks fifth in the league in three-point shooting percentage.

Kings GM Monte McNair praised LaVine as a dynamic shot-maker and game-changer. LaVine emphasized his commitment to the fans, saying, “They spend their hard-earned money to support us, and I’ll give everything I have for the city.” His West Coast roots and past relationships with Kings players make him eager to contribute to the team’s culture.

Reuniting with former Bulls teammate DeMar DeRozan, LaVine looks forward to competing in the Western Conference. “It’s amazing how things come full circle,” DeRozan said. “I can’t wait for the fans to see what he’s capable of.”
