MotoGP rookie Ai Ogura has been ruled out of this weekend’s Aragon Grand Prix as he continues to recover from a fractured right tibia sustained during practice at Silverstone.
Following a medical check in Barcelona with Dr. Juan Monllau — the surgeon who performed the keyhole surgery — it was confirmed Ogura’s leg hasn’t healed enough for competitive riding in round 8.
As a result, Trackhouse Racing will field only Raul Fernandez this weekend and at Monday’s post-race test. Ogura will now target a comeback at the Italian Grand Prix in two weeks’ time.
Ogura joins reigning world champion Jorge Martin on the sidelines for Aprilia, with test rider Lorenzo Savadori stepping in alongside Marco Bezzecchi at the factory team.
Meanwhile, Ogura’s absence gives Fermin Aldeguer a chance to extend his 13-point lead in the rookie of the year battle.
