Korea’s men’s team will look to make an impact at the BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2026 with a largely untested singles lineup, in the absence of their familiar singles leader, Jeon Hyeok Jin. Instead, the singles campaign will rest on the shoulders of Yoo Tae Bin (No.66), Choi Jihoon (No.87), Park Sang Yong (No.91), Cho Song Hyun (No.105), and Cho Hyeon Woo (No.173), all aiming to prove themselves on the world stage.
While Korea’s singles roster lacks major tournament experience, the nation’s doubles strength remains formidable. World No.1 pair Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae headline a strong group, supported by Jin Yong, Ki Dong Ju, Lee Jong Min, and Cho Song Hyun—providing Korea with a competitive edge in the doubles matches.
Korea faces a challenging Group C draw, with stern tests expected from Chinese Taipei and Denmark. Chinese Taipei boasts a deep and talented squad, featuring top singles players like Chou Tien Chen and Lin Chun-Yi, and a formidable doubles contingent including Wang Chi-Lin and Lee Jhe-Huei. Denmark, despite missing star Viktor Axelsen, retains strong singles depth with Anders Antonsen and Rasmus Gemke, as well as experienced doubles combinations.
On the women’s side, defending Uber Cup champions China have called up their star-studded roster, with Wang Zhi Yi, Chen Yu Fei, and Han Yue leading the singles, and a powerful doubles lineup featuring Liu Sheng Shu, Tan Ning, and Jia Yi Fan. Rivals Japan are led by Akane Yamaguchi in singles and a versatile doubles squad, ensuring stiff competition.
A total of 292 players from 32 teams will compete at the championships, to be held from 24 April to 3 May 2026. Algeria (men) and South Africa (women) will field the smallest squads, each with five players.
All eyes will be on how Korea’s new-look singles lineup rises to the occasion, as the prestigious team championships approach.
