Fabio Di Giannantonio, currently the highest-placed Ducati rider in the standings, insists his attention remains firmly on performance and race victories amid ongoing speculation about his MotoGP future. The VR46 Ducati rider, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has indicated that negotiations regarding his next move are being managed exclusively by his agent.
Reports suggest the VR46 Racing Team has targeted Fermin Aldeguer for one of its seats next season, leaving Di Giannantonio’s own position uncertain—though his options for 2027 extend beyond the team he joined in 2024. “There’s a lot of speculation, but it’s also a positive situation: at twenty-seven, knowing there’s interest in you is important,” Di Giannantonio told GPOne. “I’m grateful for the position I’m in. That said, I want to stay completely focused on the season. In fact, I don’t want any distractions. I have a manager who handles all that contract negotiations. I just think about being fast and trying to win every race.”
The Italian rider also revealed that he has been contending with physical discomfort since his crashes in Brazil and the American Sprint race. “In recent weeks, I’ve had some back pain following the falls in Brazil and the Sprint race in America. We ran some tests and found a small fracture, but nothing to worry about. It’s mostly a result of accumulated pain. Over the past few weeks, I’ve focused on recovering, trying to get back into the best possible shape, even taking a few days to mentally disconnect. At the moment, I still have discomfort, especially in certain positions, but it’s manageable and shouldn’t limit me this weekend. Up until now, I’ve been using painkillers, but I don’t think they’ll be necessary here.”
Di Giannantonio arrives at the Spanish Grand Prix (April 24–26) currently fourth in the championship, buoyed by his grand prix podium finish in Brazil. With his manager handling off-track matters, Di Giannantonio is committed to maintaining his competitive momentum on track as the MotoGP season continues.
