Marc and Alex Marquez played pivotal roles in shaping each other’s MotoGP futures, with both brothers engaging in candid talks before signing their respective 2027 contracts.

Marc Marquez recently confirmed he will stay with the Ducati Lenovo Team for 2027, while Alex Marquez will make a significant move from Gresini Ducati to join Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. The transition may seem surprising—Alex has won four grands prix with Gresini in the last season-and-a-half, while KTM’s last win came in 2022 (and not in dry conditions since 2021).

However, with Alex finishing runner-up in the 2025 riders’ standings, the switch to a factory KTM seat represents a chance for greater status, improved salary, and a fresh challenge—especially with major technical changes coming to MotoGP in 2027, including ride height device bans, reduced engine displacement, and a switch to Pirelli tyres.

Marc revealed that both brothers discussed their options before making their final decisions. “Super-happy that he [Alex] signed for a factory team,” Marc said at the German Grand Prix. “People must understand every move from every rider in his period of his career and what he wants to fight for. Alex and I discussed our futures—he asked my opinion for his, and I asked for his opinion for mine.”

Marc believes the move will help Alex keep growing and compete at the top level, while both brothers will now pursue new challenges in the next era of MotoGP—each with the support and advice of the other.

Their close-knit approach highlights how family ties, mutual respect, and honest conversation continue to influence the careers of two of MotoGP’s biggest stars.
