Pedro Acosta has called on KTM to address its growing reliability concerns after suffering yet another technical issue that forced him out of the Czech MotoGP at Brno.
The Spanish rider’s race ended in frustration when his KTM RC16 developed a problem on the final lap, marking the latest in a series of mechanical setbacks that have plagued both Acosta and the Austrian manufacturer in recent rounds.
Technical failures have become an increasingly worrying trend for KTM since the Catalunya Grand Prix, where a breakdown on Acosta’s bike triggered the dramatic incident that resulted in injuries to Alex Marquez.
Acosta also encountered a similar issue during practice at Brno on Friday and revealed that the problem which ended his race was identical to the one he experienced earlier in the weekend.
After climbing off his machine, the 22-year-old did not hide his frustration and suggested the team now needs to provide clear explanations.
“It was exactly the same problem as on Friday,” Acosta said. “At some point, it’s time for KTM to give some answers.”
The latest retirement adds to a difficult season for Acosta, who has frequently shown the pace to challenge at the front but has been repeatedly hampered by reliability concerns and missed opportunities.
For KTM, the incident raises further questions about the dependability of the RC16 at a crucial stage of the championship. With multiple technical failures occurring over recent races, the manufacturer faces increasing pressure to identify and resolve the underlying issues before they further impact results and rider confidence.
Despite the setback, Acosta’s speed throughout the weekend once again highlighted his potential, but the Spaniard’s patience appears to be wearing thin as recurring mechanical problems continue to derail strong performances.
As the championship moves forward, KTM will be under scrutiny to demonstrate that it has found solutions to the reliability issues that have become an unwelcome talking point in recent weeks.
