Pecco Bagnaia was all smiles after Friday practice at the Czech MotoGP, with the Ducati rider praising both the iconic Brno circuit and its newly resurfaced track.
After openly struggling to enjoy the previous round at Balaton Park, Bagnaia looked far more comfortable at Brno, a circuit renowned for its fast-flowing layout and sweeping corners that allow MotoGP riders to fully exploit the performance of their machines.
The Italian said the track immediately puts a smile on a rider’s face, describing Brno as a “real track” where every corner can be enjoyed and attacked with confidence.
A major factor behind his improved mood was the level of grip provided by the new asphalt. Bagnaia has often struggled this season with front-end instability and a lack of confidence when entering corners, but he believes Brno’s surface significantly reduces those issues.
According to the two-time world champion, the extra grip helps eliminate many of the problems that have affected him on lower-grip circuits, allowing him to brake harder, carry more speed and feel more connected to the front of the bike.
Bagnaia also praised the work done on the resurfacing project, noting that the track conditions were among the best he has experienced this season. The improved grip levels gave riders greater confidence throughout practice and contributed to faster lap times across the field.
While it remains early in the weekend, the encouraging start has given Bagnaia reason for optimism as he looks to strengthen his position in the championship battle. After a difficult experience at Balaton Park, Brno appears to offer the kind of circuit characteristics that better suit both his riding style and the strengths of the Ducati.
With qualifying and the Sprint race still to come, Bagnaia will hope the positive feeling he found on Friday can translate into a strong challenge for victory at one of MotoGP’s most popular venues.
