Ducati boss still amazed by Marquez after stunning Hungary comeback win

Ducati MotoGP team manager Davide Tardozzi admitted he remains amazed by Marc Marquez after the Spaniard returned to winning ways with a dominant performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion secured his first victory of the 2026 season — and his first since September last year — with a clean sweep at Balaton Park, eight rounds into the campaign.

Marquez has endured a difficult start to the season while recovering from a lingering nerve problem in the right shoulder he badly injured during a crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix last October, just one week after clinching the 2025 world title.

Although the anti-clockwise nature of the Balaton Park circuit was expected to suit Marquez’s physical condition, Tardozzi admitted he did not expect such a commanding display.

“Absolutely, yes,” Tardozzi said when asked if he was surprised by Marquez’s performance.

“But what I want to say is: I’m surprised that I’m still surprised, because that’s Marc Marquez.”

The victory marked a significant milestone in Marquez’s comeback and reinforced his reputation for producing remarkable performances despite adversity.
