Fabio Quartararo is preparing for a tough outing at the German MotoGP, acknowledging that the Sachsenring circuit is “not an easy track” for Yamaha ahead of the final race before the summer break. The Frenchman, fresh from an eighth-place finish at Assen, remains focused on extracting the maximum from what he expects to be a demanding weekend.
Quartararo has fond memories of Germany, having claimed victory at Sachsenring in 2022—a win that remains both his and Yamaha’s last in MotoGP. However, as the team returns to the shortest track on the calendar, Quartararo admits that the circuit now presents fresh challenges for the YZR-M1.
“Assen was physically demanding, but we managed to get the most out of that race,” Quartararo said. “Sachsenring is a track where I’ve had great memories, including a win, so it’s nice to be back. It’s not an easy circuit for us, but we’ll focus on the positives, keep working hard, and try to be competitive from the start. The goal is to head into the summer break with the best result possible.”
His Monster Energy Yamaha teammate, Alex Rins, also came away with a top-10 at Assen, finishing ninth. Rins is aiming to build on that momentum: “We know where we need to improve, and everyone at Yamaha is working hard behind the scenes. Sachsenring is a unique circuit, and finding the right feeling early will be important. We’ll keep pushing to finish the first part of the season strong.”
This German Grand Prix will also mark the first race since Yamaha confirmed that both Quartararo and Rins will be replaced by Ai Ogura and Jorge Martin for 2027. The future destinations of both outgoing riders remain undecided.
With plenty of changes on the horizon, Quartararo and Rins are determined to end the first half of the season on a high.
